Foreign direct investments (FDI) of USD 201 million were made in Georgia in 1Q24, which was USD 365 million or 64% less compared to the same period of the previous year.
Investments decreased mostly in the manufacturing industry y-o-y, which was probably related to the large deal, by which the Singapore corporation Indorama acquired the "Rustavi Azot" plant in1Q23, while in the first quarter of 2024, there was no deal of a similar scale.
As of the first quarter of 2024, BMG requested from Geostat TOP-10 investment companies of Georgia. In the first quarter, the largest direct foreign investment or USD 79 million was invested in the energy sector, therefore, the companies operating in this sector occupy the most positions in the ranking of the largest investors.
