In the first eight months of 2025, Georgia imported nearly USD 75 million worth of wheat and flour, according to data obtained by BMG from Geostat.

Meanwhile, the leading flour importers are:

During the reporting period, Georgia imported 267,148 tons of wheat and meslin worth USD 68 million, marking a 60% increase in value and a 48% rise in volume compared to the same period last year, a trend that reflects higher import costs.
Russia remains Georgia’s main wheat supplier, accounting for 191,128.8 tons worth USD 50 million, though the country recently raised its wheat export duty by 1.5 times. Kazakhstan is the second-largest supplier, exporting 76,004.3 tons of subsidized wheat worth USD 18.1 million to Georgia.
As for flour imports, they have decreased sharply, by 45% in value and 60% in volume. In total, 19,630.6 tons of flour worth USD 6.8 million were imported during the period. Russia once again dominates the list with 17,350 tons valued at USD 5.3 million, followed by Turkey (USD 849.4 thousand / 1,508.4 tons), Italy (379.4 tons), and Azerbaijan (143.9 tons).
