Export of fruits from Georgia has increased by 15% during the reporting period of the current year as compared to the similar time range of 2019. 94,667.4 t, US$ 140,066, 800 of fruit has been exported from the country in Jan-Nov 2020, up from US$ 121,831, 300 of 2019, the data of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat) says.
Hazels were the top exported fruits from Georgia this year, which shared 13,942.3 t, worth US$ 78,800, 400 (both with and without shell). The second top exported fruit was peach, worth US$ 21,448, 700 or 25,397.9 t. It was followed by tangerine - US$ 7,490, 500, or 14,340.0 t, and persimmon – 8,907.8 t, worth US$ 4,777, 200.
Top importers of most demanded fruits from Georgia are as follows: hazel – Germany, US$ 24,319.8, 3,996.7 t; peach – Russia, US$ 17,321, 800 or 16,833.2 t; tangerine - US$ 5,565, 700, or 9,375.8 t and also Russia for persimmon, US$ 2,823, 300 or 4,114.1 t.
Out of top exported fruits of the current year, tangerines were the only ones that have shown a reduction in export by its value, as compared to the prior year. 35,626.2 t or US$ 18,420, 300 of tangerine has been exported from Georgia during Jan-Nov 2019.
