In 5M24, the imports-exports of packaged medicinal products increased in Georgia. In the ranking of the largest imported goods, packaged medicinal products occupy the third place. In January-May, USD 265 million 547 thousand were spent from Georgia to purchase 6 558 tons of medicines, which was 22.6% more than the same period last year. Turkey is traditionally the main importer of medicines.
As for exports, compared to imports, the export of packaged medicinal products from Georgia is small, although medicines are among the ten largest commodity groups in the country's exports. During the first 5 months, 724 tons of medicines worth USD 45.8 million left the country. However, more than half of them - 485 tons worth USD 35.6 million were re-exports. Uzbekistan was the main export market for medicinal products from Georgia during this period.
