The healthcare industry in Georgia is dominated by the private sector. 86% of hospitals are owned by for-profit private entities, while the remaining 14% (mostly specialized hospitals, such as psychiatric, tuberculosis and penitentiary hospitals) are still operated by public institutions, - according to the report published by Galt & Taggart.
As of the document, scale is one of key success factors of operational and financial efficiency, though healthcare sector is still highly fragmented.
Accoridng to the data 2021, Evex, Aversi and Geo Hospitals were the leaders by revenues, as well as hospitalization.

According to the Galt&Taggart report, in 2022, universal health care will account for half of the private health sector revenues of GEL 1.4 billion. The revenues of the private healthcare sector amounted to GEL 2.8 billion.
