Wine company “Toreli Winery” is working on expanding export markets. Nika Javakhishvili, co-founder of a small business, spoke about this with BM.GE.
“Toreli Winery” is a family business located in Saguramo, which appeared on the market in 2021. At the moment, the winery produces 6 types of clay wines and employs 6 people in the winery. According to the co-founder of the company, the main share of their wine is sold in Europe, namely in Germany and the Netherlands. This year, the winery is planing to enter Italy, the Czech Republic and Scandinavia.
“We are a small winery that produces 5,000 - 10,000 bottles of wine per year. We have both Kakhetian varieties, as well as Kartli and Imeretian varieties. We do not have vineyards, we order grapes from friendly farmers. We have a warehouse in Holland, from which we can send wine to any country in Europe. In addition, the products are sold in several wine bars and restaurants on the local market. However, our goal is still to sell our wine to Europe.
We are negotiating with new export markets. Wine bars are interested. We must definitely export during the year. We intend to enter the Italian, Czech and Scandinavian markets, although in the case of Scandinavia, there are some bureaucratic issues to be resolved. The goal is to exploit the HoReCa sector throughout Europe, "- Javakhishvili said.
As for the price of wine, the cost of "Toreli" wine is within 40 GEL on the local market, and above 10 EUR on the international market.
He said that despite the company's plans to diversify exports, increasing productivity is not on the agenda so that the winery can maintain its quality.
