Total Volume Of Deposits Constituted GEL 48 BLN In August

The National Bank of Georgia published a report about current tendencies of resident commercial banks' laon portfolio as of August 2023.

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks in August 2023 increased by GEL 226.32 million or by 0.47% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.89%) and constituted GEL 48 billion by the end of August 2023.

The volume of loans in national currency increased by GEL 409.48 million (1.57%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency decreased by GEL 183.15 million or by 0.84% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.08%.

"By the end of August 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to GEL 7.68 billion (2.32% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted GEL 13.37 billion (0.79% less; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.14%).

During August 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector  increased by 0.55% or GEL 139.22 million, and constituted GEL 25.53 billion by the end of August 2023.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 55.07% by the end of August 2023 and increased by 0.60 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.37 percentage point), compared to the end of July 2023", - the document reads.
