Tbilisi City Hall has established Tourism Development Department, which will be chaired by Eka Burdiladze.
For many years Eka Burdiladze held the position of the head of the Department of Relations With Domestic and International Organizations, under the Municipal Economic Development Service.
As she stated to BM.GE, previously, tourism direction was part of business stimulation department.
“Tourism Development Department integrates such functions as documenting and coordination of marketing policy, strategies, programs, projects and processes. We will also work on shaping standard for Tbilisi branding (positioning) and coordination, which means identification of Tbilisi tourism potential, promotion, preparation of attractive tourism places and development of projects, coordination of tourism sector operators and active communication with private companies operating within tourism sector”, - stated Burdiladze.
According to her, total of 5 people will work in the tourism development department, 3 of whom will be transferred from the current staff of the department.
