Giorgi Chincharauli, the founder of Cafe "Sunflowers" located in Shatil, talks to BM.GE about the challenges in the region and notes that reservations in local hotels are quite small.
According to him, all the facilities in the region are closed at this stage, because there is still bad weather in Shatil, however, the residents talk about reduced bookings compared to previous years and say that this year will be weak in terms of tourism.
"At this stage, nothing is operating. The roads were opened just 3-4 days ago, because as you know, due to heavy snowfall, the roads are sometimes closed, the tourist season usually starts in June, because there are still rains and cold.
According to my information, bookings in local hotels are quite small. Tourist facilities say that they had more bookings in previous years", Chincharauli said.
It should be noted that there was a problem of the electricity supply in Shatili for years. The reason for this was the damage of HPP "Bitekhi 1" in the region.
As the founder of the cafe points out to BM.GE, the problems related to HPP in the region are almost solved. In particular, the old HPP in the region was put into operation in a pilot mode, and at this stage, the observation process is underway to see how well it will work. Therefore, currently, Shatil is supplied with electricity.
