Trade Relations With Russia Were Up In 2024

Russia is Georgia's second-largest trading partner. It accounts for 10.8% of the country's total trade, - according to Geostat data for 2024.

Last year, Georgia-Russia trade turnover increased by 5.4% y-o-y amounting to USD 2.5 billion.

Imports from Russia

Imports make up the major share of trade turnover with Russia. Georgia buys 2.7 times more from Russia than it sells. More specifically, last year Russia was in third place among trade partners, and imports amounted to USD 1 billion 850 million after an annual increase of 6%. This is 11% of Georgia's total imports.

Major Imported Products from Russia to Georgia:

Oil and Petroleum Products - USD 519.5 million;
Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons - USD 180.9 million;
Carbon steel bars, without further processing (rebar) - USD 114.5 million;
Wheat and muslin - USD 75.7 million;
Sunflower, safflower or cottonseed oil and their fractions - USD 44.6 million.

Exports to Russia

In January-July, exports amounted to USD 681.5 million, which was an annual increase of 3.7%. Russia is Georgia's fourth largest exporting partner, with a 10.4% share in total exports.

The main export products in Russia are as follows:

Natural grape wines - USD 182.6 million;

Spirits - USD 154.8 million;

Mineral and fresh waters, without added sugar - USD 76.9 million;

Waters, including mineral and aerated, with added sugar - USD 61.7 million;

Fresh apricots, cherries, peaches, plums and gooseberries - USD 32.2 million.
