Starting in August, passengers traveling by Georgian Railway will be able to reach Batumi from Tbilisi in just four hours, Deputy Economy Minister Tamar Ioseliani announced.

According to Ioseliani, the shorter travel time is the result of extensive railway infrastructure upgrades and the completion of the mountain pass modernization project.

She said the improvements are expected to significantly increase passenger traffic, potentially doubling ridership, while also boosting tourism.

In addition to track upgrades, existing passenger stations have been renovated. The Economy Ministry says the modernized infrastructure is designed to increase railway capacity and provide passengers with safer and more comfortable travel.
