In April 2021 exports from Turkey amounted to US$ 18 786 000 000 with a 109.2% increase and imports amounted to US$ 21 844 000 000 with a 61.1% increase compared with April 2020.
The foreign trade deficit was US$3.05 billion in April, while the figure was US$4.58 billion in the same month last year, reads the recent data of the Turkey’s Statistical Institute, TurkStat.
The export-import coverage ratio was 86% in the month, up from 66.2% in the previous year.
The trade gap was down by 19.7% to US$ 14.12 billion over the same period while the export-import coverage ratio was 83%, up from 74.6% on a yearly basis.
In April 2021, the main partner country for exports was Germany with US$1 654 000 000. The country was followed by USA with US$ 1 184 000 000, United Kingdom with 1 043 000 000, Iraq with US$ 924 million and Italy with US$ 889 million. The ratio of the first five countries in total exports was 30.3% in April 2021.
In April 2021, the top country for Turkey's imports was China with US$ 2 412 000 000. The country was followed by Russia with US$ 2 173 000 000, Germany with US$ 2 129 000 000, USA with US$ 1 099 000 000 and Italy with 963 million dollars. The ratio of first five countries in total imports was 40.2% in April 2021.
In the first four-month period, the country's exports and imports were up by 33.1% and 19.7% to reach US$ 68.74 billion and US$ 82.87 billion, respectively.
