Turkey’s exports were US$151 billion 670 million with 8.3% decrease and imports were US$197 billion 14 million with 3.5% increase during Jan-Nov 2020, as compared to the same period of the prior year. Foreign trade deficit, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, was US$ 338 million in November 2020. With US$14 billion 406 million Germany was the main partner country for exports and with US$20 billion 538 million – China topped importers.
According to the provisional data, produced with the cooperation of the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, in November 2020, exports worth US$ 16 billion 94 million with a 0.9% decrease and imports – US$ 21 billion 127 million with a 15.9% increase compared with November 2019.
During Nov 2020, energy products and non-monetary gold excluded exports and imports increased by 1.6%, 20.3% respectively. Exports, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, were US$ 15 billion 682 million with a 1.6% increase in November 2020. Imports, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, were US$ 16 billion 20 million with a 20.3% increase in November 2020.
Foreign trade deficit, excluding energy products and non-monetary gold, was US$ 338 million in November 2020. Foreign trade volume was US$31 billion 702 million with a 10.2% increase. Energy products and non-monetary gold excluded export coverage imports was 97.9%.
In November 2020 foreign trade deficit was US$5 billion 33 million with a 153.5% increase compared with November 2019. During the report period, exports coverage imports was 76.2%, while it was 89.1% in November 2019. The foreign trade deficit increased by 82.5% in January-November 2020. In Jan-Nov 2020 period, foreign trade deficit was US$45 billion 344 million with 82.5% increase compared with January-November 2019. In the same period, exports coverage imports was 77.0% while it was 86.9% in January-November 2019.
In January-November 2020 period, the main partner country for exports was Germany with US$14 billion 406 million. The country was followed by the United Kingdom with US$10 billion 131 million, USA with US$9 billion 101 million, Iraq with US$8 billion 160 million and Italy with US$7 billion 228 million. The ratio of the first five countries in total exports was 32.3% in January-November 2020.
As for the top country for Turkey's imports during Jan-Nov 2020, it was China with US$20 billion 538 million. The country was followed by Germany with US$19 billion 321 million, Russia with US$15 billion 864 million, USA with US$10 billion 670 million and Italy with US$8 billion 127 million. The ratio of first five countries in total imports was 37.8% in January-November 2020.
