Turkey's furniture exports increased by 35% to reach $2 billion in the first half of 2021 versus the same period last year.
The country's main export destinations were Iraq, Germany, the US, Israel, and France, while the main products were cribs and kid's, dining and sitting room furniture, according to data compiled from Istanbul Furniture, Paper, and Forestry Products Exporters' Association, AA reports.
Ahmet Gulec, the head of the association, said the upward trend is expected to continue for many years.
The Turkish furniture sector ranks eighth in the international market, but it wants to climb to fifth place, he stated.
"We believe that we can do it very easily, we need support for promotion and branding."
Recalling the sector's export expectation of $4 billion for this year, he said the first-half figures proved this target.
