Turkiye's retail sales volume, a marker of growing consumer spending, soared by 14.7% year-on-year in April, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Food, drinks, and tobacco sales fell by 1.1%,while non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 31.3%, and automotive fuel sales declined 2.8%, year-on-year.
Among non-food items, textiles, clothing, and footwear sales increased most, with a 72.5% rise.
Shopping via mail order and online increased by 34.8%, on a yearly basis.
Monthly, Turkiye's retail trade was also up 2.1%.
"In the same month food, drinks and tobacco sales decreased by 3.5%, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 4.6%, automotive fuel sales increased by 3.2%," said TurkStat.
