In the third quarter of 2020, TV advertising revenues increased by 24% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to GEL 15.9 million, including advertising, sponsorship, product placement, announcements, and teleshopping, according to the Communications Commission.
According to the regulator, the major part of advertising revenue, 87%, comes from direct advertising, and 6-6% from sponsorship and product placement.
"Imedi TV received the highest revenue of 6.1 million GEL in the third quarter, whose revenue has increased by 20% compared to the same period last year.
Rustavi 2 TV has 2.9 million GEL, but its advertising revenue is reduced by 22%. The largest percentage increase in advertising revenues has "TV Pirveli" and "Mtavari Arkhi."
TV' Pirveli's advertising revenue increased by 71% to 1.4 million GEL. Mtavari Arkhi also received GEL 1.4 million in revenue, with GEL 0.02 million in the third quarter of the previous year. GDS TV received GEL 0.6 million, Formula TV received GEL 0.5 million, and GEL 0.4 was received by Post and Silknet.
Public Broadcaster's advertising revenue has been reduced by 14%, from 0.32 million GEL to 0.28 million GEL.
As for other TV broadcasters, their total advertising revenue is 1.8 million GEL," the Communications Commission said in a statement.
