The unemployment rate in Armenia in the first quarter of this year calculated by the methodology of the International Labor Organization was 13.7% of the labor force, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said in a review on the main socio-economic indicators.
The unemployment rate in Belarus was 3.4% (II quarter 2023), in Kazakhstan - 4.8% (I quarter 2023), Kyrgyzstan - 4.9% (2022), in Russia - 3.5% (I quarter 2023). The unemployment rate across the EEU was 3.8% of the labor force (I quarter 2023).
At the end of June 2023, some 1.2 million jobless people were registered with employment services of the EEU member states, which was 10.7% less than at the end of June 2022. In Russia this figure was down 28.3%, in Belarus - 23.6%, in Armenia -17.1%, and in Kyrgyzstan - 1.5%. The number of unemployed citizens increased in Kazakhstan by 45.6%.
The number of unemployed people registered with employment services of Russia decreased by 25.6%, in Belarus - by 26.6%, in Armenia - by 16.0%, in Kyrgyzstan - by 0.5%. At the same time, in Kazakhstan it increased by 36.6%.
In June 2023, some 222.2 thousand unemployed citizens across EEU were given jobs, which is 31.9% more than in May 2023, and 46.6% less than in June 2022. A total of 1,041,600 people have been hired since the beginning of the year, ARKA reports.
