International Black Sea University's (IBSU) new owners, Kakha Shengelia talked about their future plans with BMGTV. As IBSU's new rector Kakha Shengelia noted, IBSU would keep its brand, lecturers, and management.
Shengelia underscored that IBSU would increase and expand its awareness, attracting more foreign students and developing new educational programs in engineering, medical, psychology, social, and humanitarian domains.
According to the new owner of the university, IBSU owns a territory, where infrastructure development and the arrangement of a new university town are planned.
"IBSU has a huge property near the Tbilisi airport, 10 hectares of land, where the university city will be built. Our task is to attract as many foreign students as possible to Georgia and to develop the country's economy and education, and that is why we needed IBSU.
The infrastructure plan already exists and we will start developing it very soon, it is only a matter of months. A large educational city will be created in this area, where there will be residences, schools and clinics", Kakha Shengelia said.
As per the agreement signed on October 2, International Black Sea University (IBSU) has been acquired by Kakha Shengelia, Caucasus University President, and Gia Kavtelishvili, the Rector of Georgian National University (SEU). IBSU was sold at USD 10 million.
