Unknown-Origin Aesthetic Products Are a Challenge – Association Calls for Regulation in Aesthetic Medicine

ბაია კონდრატიევა

The growing presence of aesthetic medicine products of unknown origin in Georgia’s market is raising concerns among industry professionals. Baia Kondratieva, co-founder of the Georgian International Association of Aesthetic Medicine, addressed the issue during an appearance on BMGTV’s Women's Narrative.

“Aesthetic medicine is growing rapidly, but the lack of state regulation is creating serious risks,” Kondratieva stated. “The most pressing issue is the influx of unknown-origin drugs, which endanger both doctors and patients.”

While the association works to share international best practices and raise awareness among medical professionals and the public, Kondratieva emphasized that systemic reform is essential.

“We’re doing our best to inform and educate, but without formal regulation, it’s impossible to ensure safety and professional standards nationwide,” Kondratieva said.

She underscored the urgent need for government intervention to regulate the field, establish drug safety standards, and protect the integrity of Georgia’s rapidly expanding aesthetic medicine sector.
