“I think we saw that the government heard the people’s voices and withdrew those laws,” said US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan in Akhalkalaki, remarking on the protest rallies against the so-called Foreign Agents bill.

“I think there was a very clear demonstration by the people of Georgia that they have made a clear and determined choice that their path is Europe, and anything that takes them off that path, and anything that distracts from that, is not welcomed by the people of Georgia. And I think we saw that the government heard the people’s voices and withdrew those laws,” she said.

The Georgian parliament dropped the People’s Power-tabled Transparency of Foreign Influence bill at the plenary on March 10.
