The US trade deficit for goods soared 8.8% to $90.3 billion in December 2022, according to data released by the Commerce Department’s Census Bureau on Thursday.
The goods trade deficit is a rise of $7.3 billion from $82.9 billion in November, the agency said in a statement.
The figure was expected to come in at $82.9 billion last month.
Exports of goods for December were $166.8 billion, which was $2.6 billion less than November exports.
Imports of goods for the last month were $257.1 billion – $4.7 billion more than the month before.
