The USA will assist Armenia in developing cooperation with Amazon Web Services to implement cloud infrastructure and build capacity in Armenia, said Samantha Power, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on July 10.

According to the press service of the Armenian government, Pashinyan and Power discussed the programs being implemented by USAID in Armenia and exchanged ideas on the prospects for new joint projects.

“The importance of joint efforts in implementing the reform agenda and developing the institutional capacity of the Armenian government, including strategic communications, as well as further expanding and promoting cooperation, was emphasized,” the statement said.

Power also announced USAID’s decision to provide new funding of $5 million to support cooperation between Amazon Web Services and the government for implementing cloud infrastructure and building capacity in Armenia.

Prime Minister Pashinyan highlighted the importance of cooperation in various fields within the framework of the Armenia-US Strategic Dialogue. He highly appreciated the programs implemented by USAID in Armenia aimed at developing democratic institutions. The Prime Minister noted that the Armenian government is determined to continue taking consistent steps to implement reforms.

The US administration, as stated by Samantha Power, attaches great importance to close cooperation with Armenia and is ready to consistently support the Armenian government's programs aimed at strengthening democracy, development, and increasing the country's resilience.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced an increase in US aid to Armenia to more than $65 million, which is 50 percent more than two years ago.
