Given the gravity of the current situation, USAID is conducting a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation between the US and Georgia, - Deputy Assistant Administrator of USAID, Alexander Sokolowski, said at the hearing held in the US Congress on Georgia.
"Georgia's impressive achievements on the way of US support for Georgian democracy were built on individual and public freedoms, human rights, common vision of democratic governance, common values, which included a strong, active and lively civil society in dialogue with the government. I have been coming to Georgia for two decades - this was the Georgia we knew until now. We would like to see a Georgia that will be loyal to these values and will understand this vision.
Given the gravity of the current situation, we are conducting a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation between the US and Georgia, and we at USAID are working closely with our Department of State colleagues in this effort," said Sokolowski.
