The Uzbekistan–Georgia Business Forum is taking place in Tbilisi today, bringing together government officials and business representatives to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation. Organized by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, the event aims to deepen economic ties and create new business opportunities between the two countries.

Economic relations remain relatively modest but have been expanding in recent years, largely driven by the growing re-export of vehicles from Georgia to Uzbekistan. In 2025, bilateral trade increased 27.7% to $309 million, with Georgian exports reaching $220 million, led by passenger cars, pharmaceuticals, soft drinks, mineral water and medical products. However, trade slowed in 2026, with turnover totaling $90.1 million in January–May, down from $99.5 million a year earlier.

Uzbek investment in Georgia is also limited. Since 2009, total Uzbek FDI has reached around $19 million, mainly in trade, real estate and hospitality. In 2025, investment amounted to just $220,000, while another $276,000 was invested in the first quarter of 2026. At the same time, more Georgian companies have shown interest in entering the Uzbek market, particularly after TBC Bank launched operations there in 2020.

People-to-people economic links are gradually strengthening as well. Remittances from Uzbekistan to Georgia reached $12.7 million in 2025, while transfers in the opposite direction totaled $20 million. Tourism is also on an upward trend despite a weaker start to 2026. Georgia welcomed 72,913 visitors from Uzbekistan in 2025, up 13.5% year-on-year, although first-quarter arrivals in 2026 declined 16.8% to 8,444.
