The Vake Swimming Pool, located at 49 Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi, has a new owner. According to the Georgian Business Registry, the facility, previously owned by local businessman Iona Kobulia, was sold to Mirzo Jamshed, a businessman from Tajikistan. The pool occupies a 3,196 square meter plot, though it is not yet clear whether the facility will continue operating as a swimming pool or be redeveloped for other purposes.
The transaction involved the company Autograph, under which the pool operates. Public records indicate that the pool’s assets amount to 18.6 million GEL, with 2023 revenues totaling 5.8 million GEL, despite reporting a loss of 1.9 million GEL for the year.
Mirzo Jamshed, the new owner, is active in the pharmaceutical industry and serves as director of EVOLET HEALTHCARE LIMITED in the UK. He is also the vice-president of the Chess Federation of Tajikistan, reflecting his involvement in both business and sports administration.
The previous owner, Iona Kobulia, remains active in Georgia’s pharmaceutical sector, holding a 90% stake in the pharmacy chain Pharmhouse. It remains to be seen whether the new ownership will maintain the Vake Swimming Pool’s current operations or pursue redevelopment opportunities.
