Varketili metro station will not close during the reconstruction works, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze at the municipal government meeting.
According to Kakha Kaladze, modernization and technical refurbishment of subway stations is the main component of the Tbilisi City Hall’s transport policy.
The Mayor vowed to keep society informed about all primary decisions.
“One of the main components of our transport policy is the subway, which transports the most passengers during the day, and one of the most important components is the rehabilitation, improvement and elimination of all the existing problems,” he said.
Kakha Kaladze further reported that Mamisoni company, which won the tender, failed to meet the commitments, causing the suspension of the reconstruction works. This time Bada Construction will carry out the work, which will take 18 months, Kaladze said.
