Washington invited Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili to attend the NATO summit from Georgia. The Georgian Service of Voice of America disseminates the above information based on the Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller.
The Department of State confirmed to Voice of America that an official invitation had been sent from Washington to Tbilisi in the name of Ilia Darchiashvili.
“Are Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani invited to Washington to attend the summit?” - In response to this question, Matthew Miller told Voice of America that "like other countries participating in the Partnership for Peace [program], the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia is invited to participate in certain accompanying events."
As for the question, did the Department of State receive a confirmation from the official Tbilisi that a representative of the Georgian government will attend the summit, Matthew Miller answered that regarding the intention of the Georgian government, they should contact the Georgian government.
"We call on the Georgian Dream government to quickly take steps to return Georgia to the Euro-Atlantic path, as its people want and as it is indicated in the constitution," Miller said.
