We see that many reforms in Georgia are promising - especially the development and formation of human capital, as well as structural issues such as the reform of state-owned enterprises, green and digital economic recovery, - said Anna Bjerde, World Bank Vice President said after the meeting with Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili.
As she noted, the World Bank positively assesses ongoing economic recovery process in Georgia.
"I was in Georgia last summer and I am glad that today I had the opportunity to review our cooperation with the Minister. The Government of Georgia and the World Bank have a long-standing partnership. We observe and greatly appreciate the very strong economic recovery observed in Georgia in 2021.
We discussed the future challenges posed by the current epidemiological situation and new cases of infection. We talked about the government's response, the increase in the vaccination rate, as well as other stimulants and mechanisms of immunization for the protection of the population. At the meeting, we also talked about economic issues. The challenges facing rising inflation and its effects on the economy and population are facing the whole world. The conversation also focused on the future reform program, which the World Bank is looking forward to supporting, "said the World Bank Vice President.
