Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that the suspension of visa liberalisation for Georgia will not be a focal point of discussion at today’s meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Ministers. However, she noted that it remains one of the available tools.
According to Kallas, the issue of sanctions will be put on the agenda at the Foreign Affairs Council taking place on June 23 in Brussels.
“We will discuss Georgia as well today. Of course, the situation is worsening, and we see many developments. So, I will again put on the table the sanctions regarding those people who are conducting violence and human rights violations in Georgia. We are also discussing what more we can do because Georgia is not on the right track. Well, we are not discussing this in detail today, but yes, it’s one of the tools,” Kallas stated at the doorstep before the FAC meeting.
