Businessman Mindia Sabanadze says the company behind the CITYZEN Expo development project at Expo Georgia expects to obtain a construction permit in the near future. He stated that the land legally belongs to the company and that it has fulfilled more conditions and requirements than necessary to secure approval, expressing strong confidence that the permit will be granted.
Although the construction permit has not yet been issued, Sabanadze said he was confident the company would receive it soon. He also addressed the ongoing protests at the site, arguing that public opposition stems from a lack of information about the project. According to him, the concerns raised by protesters are already being addressed in the development plans.
The company says the project will preserve the site's historic function and green spaces, expand exhibition facilities and keep the area accessible to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Pre-sales for CITYZEN Expo began on October 22. The multifunctional development is expected to involve total investment of approximately $500 million. Its key priorities include preserving and restoring a 10-hectare century-old forest park, an artificial lake, exhibition pavilions and the site's architectural heritage.
