Similar statements and those particular shameful statements made by MEPs are very hard for the society, because everyone sees a double standard, - this is how the General Secretary of "Georgian Dream", Kakha Kaladze, responded to the statement of the US State Department adviser, Derek Chollet.
According to Kaladze, double standard is categorically unacceptable for them.
"We don't want to break any relationship with anyone, we want justice - this is fundamentally important - double standards are categorically unacceptable. Today, nobody engages in discrediting the West and even America as much as such statements and those particular shameful MEPs who make such statements. It's very hard on society because everyone sees a double standard. Today, it is impossible to hide something when something is acceptable for another country and you are forbidden to do it, it is not the right attitude when you are told that it is black on white, it is very hard. People are not stupid - they understand, see, analyze everything and draw the right conclusions," said Kaladze.
When asked whether relations with the US will be reviewed after Irakli Kobakhidze's statement, Kaladze answered that Georgia is a reliable partner and friendly country, this is their attitude, but it cannot be one-sided.
"We are ready for friendship and partnership, and we have repeatedly confirmed that Georgia is a reliable partner and a friendly country - this is our attitude, but can it not be unilateral?" We want to see and feel the same from the other side. This is our simple attitude. We don't do anything special. We say about the mentioned bill, tell us why it is problematic and give at least one argument why transparency is against Europeanness and European values.
Do they oppose [the draft law] because the facts and specifics that we know should not be made public? - Who finances extremism, revolution, attempted revolution, confrontation, polarization. On the one hand, they tell you to reduce polarization, on the other hand, these funds finance extremist organizations - it's not nice, so everything should be transparent, people should know who is an enemy and who is a friend", said Kaladze.
Speaking on the same topic, Kaladze noted that everyone, both inside and outside the country, should remember that the masters of this country are His Excellency - the Georgian people.
"Our position is very simple - the most important and important thing for us is Georgia, the interest of the country, strengthening of sovereignty and statehood, reduction of external influence. All external influences should be reduced and the influence of the Georgian people should be strengthened. "Everyone, both inside and outside the country, should remember that the master of this country is His Excellency - the Georgian people," said Kaladze.
For information, today the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, published a statement on the social network X that he spoke to Derek Chollet and expressed his sincere disappointment over the two revolutionary attempts of 2020-23, which were carried out with the support of the former US ambassador and through externally funded "Enjeos".
As the head of the Government notes, if the efforts at that time had been successful, a second front would have been opened in Georgia today.
Before that, the adviser of the US State Department, Derek Chollet, said that in a conversation with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, he expressed concern about the current trajectory of Georgia.
According to Derek Chollet, the United States calls on the Georgian government to make Georgia committed to the Euro-Atlantic future.
