We Are Very Optimistic About India… Hosting Wedding Events Is Attractive for Us – Lopota Spa Resort

Lopota Spa Resort, located in Kakheti, is entering the market for hosting Indian weddings, a segment the resort considers highly attractive. The resort’s Commercial Director, Maka Gligvashvili, spoke about the new direction on BMGTV’s program Women’s Narrative, while assessing Georgia’s planned $592,613 investment aimed at promoting wedding tourism.

“We are very optimistic about the Indian market. The wedding we hosted in 2018 turned out to be very profitable for the hotel. Since then, demand for Indian and international weddings has declined slightly, but we still host foreign wedding events every year, but on a smaller scale,” she said.

Gligvashvili noted that Indian weddings do not overlap with Lopota’s peak tourist season: “Wedding events usually take place in April, May, June, and also in October. These periods are very favorable for our resort, because July and August are already busy. So hosting wedding events is very interesting for us,” she added.

Speaking about capacity, the Commercial Director said that Lopota Spa Resort currently hosts medium-sized weddings of 500–600 guests. “With our 310 rooms, these events are fully manageable. For weddings of up to 1,000 guests, participants can be accommodated across several hotels, which is an adaptable process for us and does not create any issues,” she explained.

As for international visitor trends, Gligvashvili said that Israel has been the leading market for the past two years, replacing Gulf countries. “Around 45–50% of bookings still come from local guests. Among international markets, most visitors come from Israel, followed by the Gulf countries and CIS states,” she added.
