Ham-producing company "Loruka", located in Racha, has retooled the enterprise according to European standards. The founder of the company, Mariam Lebanidze, told BM.GE about this.
According to her, over GEL 130,000 was invested in the retooling process. The company obtained grants from agency "Enterprise Georgia", Mercy Corps and UNDP for the implementation of the project. As she noted, part of the investment was provided by her own resources.
"We have retooled the enterprise. Fully equipped with European standards, which is the demand of international markets. We also bought a special device that filters smoke and prevents harmful substances from reaching the product. In the end, all our resources were invested in the refinement of production. A total of 130,000 GEL was invested in the retooling process within 1 year. The production potential is 10 tons, but we are currently producing only 2 tons. From the new season, we plan to increase production by 20-30%", Lebanidze says.
"Loruka" employs a total of 2 people. However, along with the increase in production, it is planned to add new staff.
According to Mariam Lebanidze, despite the fact that the company has introduced new technologies in production, the product is still prepared using the traditional methodology. The cost of 1 kilogram of ham is 40-50 GEL. As the founder of the brand notes, both Georgian and foreign customers are fascinated by "Loruka".
The Georgian ham production company "Loruka" was founded 2 years ago with an investment of 20 thousand GEL.
