Teymur Taghiyev, Head of Strategy at NEQSOL Holding declares in an interview with Giorgi Isakadze, editor-in chief of Forbes Georgia, that NEQSOL does not have affiliations with Russia.
A few days ago, Mamia Sanadiradze, former holder of company Caucasus Online declared, that NEQSOL Holding was not interested in formation of Georgia into regional digital hub. Moreover, Sanadiradze notes, that digital silkway project has been planned in Moscow.
If the Azerbaijan side takes control over Caucasus Online, Georgia may face the problem of secure access to the European Internet. It is likely that the Azerbaijani plans to connect the existing Black Sea cable directly to Baku. After that, Russian-European mixture of Internet will be supplied to Georgia from Baku. “Thus, Baku will become the hub, while Tbilisi will be its 'appendicitis'. We are not children to believe that”.
NEQSOL Holding denies that and notes that despite the diversification, they do not hold any asset in Russia.
“First of all, we need to emphasize the role of Mr. Mamia Sanadiradze in the implementation of Black Sea Cable, that affected the whole telecom region. Black Sea cable project was driven by his passion, his strong efforts and belief in the success of the project. Therefore we need to understand his emotional statements, especially taking into account some negative emotions resulting from the failed plans for cooperation with our group, and with the fact that now Caucasus Online belongs to other investors with ambitious regional plans.
As for affiliations with Russia, we are presented in 8 countries worldwide and we do not have any connection with the Russian Federation. Respectively, talks about it is invalid”, Teymur Taghiyev said.
