Businessman Kakha Khazaradze, Chairman of ICR Group, has spoken out about the recent imprisonment of his cousin Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, calling it deeply painful and unjust.
Speaking on BMGTV, Khazaradze refrained from political judgment but strongly defended their legacy as entrepreneurs:
“Mamuka and I grew up together and co-founded TBC Group in the 1990s. We made history. We brought capital into Georgia, built institutions like TBC Bank and the Borjomi project. I am proud of that.”
He criticized the government for jailing people with such national contributions:
“For not appearing before a parliamentary commission, to imprison someone who helped shape the economy, how can we speak of justice in such a country?”
Khazaradze added that broader repression, including arrests of youth, journalists, and civil activists, reflects a lack of rule of law in Georgia:
“Today, the law does not apply, and there is no justice.”
