We take care of all doses of COVID-19 vaccines, - Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, told TV Pirveli.
“Loss of 15% is permissible in the process of vaccination. When we say that 1,700,000 people should be vaccinated this year, it means that 3.4 million doses are needed for double vaccination. However, we must buy 3.9 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, as we can have a loss of 15%. But, we want to reduce this loss to 3-4%”, Gamkrelidze said.
According to him, on the second day of vaccination there was a loss of three doses, and on the third day a little more. For reference, AstraZeneca vaccine vial contains 10 full doses.
As Gamkrelidze notes, the Coordination Council and Vaccination Council of the Ministry of Health will discuss how to minimize the loss of COVID-19 vaccine tomorrow.
