The Baku-Supsa terminal is not working now, but we want to load this channel as well, - said the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, who was visiting Georgia. He met Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili. Then the parties held a joint briefing.
According to Aliyev, during the meeting with Garibashvili, the conversation touched upon the future energy policy and the projects that had been implemented.
"Operationally, these projects are very successful, and we look forward to launch new projects to increase natural gas exports to international markets. We are going to export 22 million cubic meters and increase it further in the coming years. This year, a memorandum was signed with the European Commission, and within the next 5 years, Azerbaijan plans to double its natural gas exports to Europe.
We have the opportunity to do so and we intend to export almost 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas by 2027. We discussed this with the Prime Minister of Georgia. There will be new issues to discuss. Meanwhile, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline will increase exports. With this pipeline, exports will increase, the pipeline will be even more loaded, and we want to use the Baku-Supsa terminal even more, which is not operational now, but we want to load this channel as well," Aliyev said.
