Andria Kurasbediani, general manager of restaurant Barbarestan, declares that if the idea of “safe restaurant” means the launch of vaccination, then the business welcomes it.
Kurasbediani told Business Morning that the sector expects Easter lockdown, but he deeply hopes that it should be a short-term restriction.
“We went through a difficult period. One year has passed, and we have to save the restaurant business with these terrible conditions. Now we are slowly starting to work and actually the most active phase is ahead. I think we should all aware that if we do not want to go back to the results that started last September, we all must follow all COVID-regulations.
If we consider the Easter period, our sector expects that additional regulations will be enacted, but they must not be so long and painful as before. Strict regulations must not continue for one or two months, which will suffer the business further”, - general manager of Barbarestan said.
Kurasbediani notes, that he does not know yet what the “safe restaurant” means but he hopes, that government plans to launch vaccination for the sector, which will become mandatory for restaurants.
“We have communication with many people. We welcome the initiative if it is necessary to survive and expand our business”, - Kurasbediani notes.
The general manager of the hotel focuses on the customers’ behavior and notes their approaches are changed, as now they realize COVID-regulations and strictly follow them.
Georgian government is discussing the introduction of “safe status" for hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. Economy Minister Natia Turnava noted that their goal is to overcome the current situation with point restrictions instead of the full lockdown.
