According to the general secretary of Georgian Dream, the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, the Georgian Dream government welcomes the arrival of Russian tourists to Georgia and notes that there is nothing wrong with it.
As of him, after 2008, the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, met Russian tourists with flowers at the Larsi checkpoint, and today it is the representatives of the National Movement who are protesting the entry of Russian tourists into Georgia with angry faces.
"We welcome the arrival of Russian tourists. There is nothing wrong with that. After the 2008 war, on the third-fourth day, government officials sent letters to the Russian Federation to start public relations and hold concerts in Georgia. They directly encouraged Russian tourists to come and do business. Strategic objects were sold to Russian state companies, Saakashvili met Russian tourists with flowers at the Lars check point and welcomed their arrival, and today these people are still protesting the entry of Russian tourists into Georgia with angry faces. This is the usual double standard and these people are hypocrites.
The government of Georgia puts the interest of its people and this country first. So it was and so it will be in the future. This is our approach, attitude. You can't cite a single fact that our country was used to circumvent the sanctions," Kaladze said.
