According to the Deputy Minister of Health, the agency will have expert recommendations tomorrow regarding the issue of reducing the interval between booster doses in the vaccination process in Georgia. Tamar Gabunia made this statement at a press conference after the end of the Immunization Council in response to a question from journalists.

She explained that until now, the interval between booster doses of Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccine in Georgia was 3 months, and in the case of Pfizer, 6 months, but after the spread of Omicron strain in some countries, the interval of booster doses were revised, therefore, Georgia will be able to review this issue after receiving expert recommendations.

"Tomorrow we will have specific recommendations on whether it is expedient for a group of experts to reduce the term of the booster dose from 6 to 5 months. Since the announcement of the new strain, many countries have reduced the booster dose interval, in some cases from 6 to 5 months, in some cases to 4 months, and in the case of Sinopharm and Sinovac, it is three months.

We also think that work in this direction is important and we are waiting for the conclusion of a group of experts, which will be ready for tomorrow.

In the case of booster doses, booster doses can be taken by persons from 18 years of age. Now we are talking about reducing the 6-month interval for all people," Gabunia said.

According to her, there is no high activity on booster doses today, as the 6-month interval usually expires in early December or at the end of the month.
