Amiran Gamkrelidze, director of the National Center for Disease Control, says he and the NCDC are of the opinion that so-called booster doses will be needed.

According to him, the country will not wait for the decision of the World Health Organization in this regard, as it is up to the country.
 
"This issue will be considered by the Scientific Committee of the Immunization Council and in this regard, both my personal and the National Center for Disease Control's opinion and recommendation that we will need a 'booster' or the third dose 6 months after the second vaccination, but we must consider and decide after we reach a certain margin of double dosed vaccination. In this regard, we will not wait for the decision of the World Health Organization, it is up to the country, "Gamkrelidze said.

For reference, as of September 30, a total of 1,785,862 vaccinations have been administered. 981,624 people - 34.6% of the adult population - have been vaccinated with at least 1 dose. And 804,238 people are fully vaccinated - 28.2% of the adult population.
