Andro Barnovi, founder of winery Andro’s Wine Art, located in the village of Ateni, told BM.GE that they would expand with pleasure, if they had a forecast for the future.
According to him, the wine industry has the potential to develop, which is also supported by last year’s harvest. However, given the unstable situation in the country, the winemaker refrains from making any predictions. Barnovi adds that instead of developing, the winery has paused ongoing projects.
The Andro’s Wine Art winery has been operating on the market since 2016 and offers consumers natural, Kartli and small quantities of Kakhetian wine, which is aged for several years and then bottled. The winery produces approximately 12-15 types of wine annually, the volumes of which at the peak of production do not exceed 8,000 bottles.
Barnovi states that their wine is mainly exported, while limited quantities are sold on the local market, in wine bars and in the restaurant “Ninias Baghi”.
“The wine is mainly exported to Europe, more specifically to Germany, the Baltic states, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and we also sell it to Japan. The price of our wine in these markets reaches 35 EUR. During the year, we produce about 12-15 types of wine. We mix different varieties and try to get unique flavors.
Some of the raw materials are ours, and some we import. We cooperate with 4 different vineyards”, - the winemaker said.
