First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili spoke about the advantages of agro drones in TV-Program "Business Morning".
According to him, GEL 200 million was invested in the next year's budget, and that amount included all the complex agro-credits that serve the development of agriculture, including drones.
"Drones can poison the field without damaging the cultivated areas. Its second advantage is the coverage speed, because it is quite high. It can cover an area of 15 ha per day, which is not so easy to achieve with a tractor. The drone also provides the opportunity to cover areas at night. This is especially important in hot summer weather, when it is not advisable to carry out poisoning work at high temperatures.
In the first stage, financing will be within the framework of agro credit. In Georgia's agriculture, the portfolio, which serves agricultural lending, reached GEL 2 billion from banks. We have invested GEL 200 million in the budget for next year, and we think these funds include all the complex agro-credits that serve the development of agriculture, including drones," said Giorgi Khanishvili.
