Georgia’s real GDP grew by 8.0% year-on-year in July 2026, while average growth for the first seven months of the year stood at 7.9%, according to preliminary data from Geostat. Executive Director Gogita Todradze said the growth was supported by several key sectors, while construction was the only major sector to contract.

Private-sector turnover, measured by VAT-paying companies, reached GEL 17.7 billion in July, up 12.6% year-on-year. Manufacturing posted significant growth, driven mainly by increased production and exports of petroleum products and stronger activity in the metals industry. Exports of the relevant petroleum products increased roughly 25-fold, mainly to several African countries and Singapore, while ferro-silicomanganese exports rose around threefold, primarily to the United States.

The IT and financial sectors also contributed to growth. Information and communication activity expanded on higher demand for software development, IT consulting and related services, while growth in financial and insurance activities was attributed mainly to increased interest income earned by commercial banks. Mining also expanded, supported by higher extraction of non-ferrous metal ores, while transport and storage benefited from stronger foreign trade and increased cargo handling.

Construction was the only sector to decline, mainly due to lower activity in civil infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, highways and tunnels. Todradze also pointed to weaker imports of construction materials, which fell 13% year-on-year, while cement and clinker imports declined by around 19%.
