Former Minister of Healthcare David Sergeenko visited BMG's TV-program "Healthcare Standards". In response to the hosts' question about the potential of Georgia's healthcare system for further development and establishing its own niche in the region - David Sergeenko provides several examples.

"Georgia's healthcare system, both clinical medicine and public health, has great potential and needs significant support to become a regional hub. At the time, we measured what diagnoses Georgians went abroad with and also what diagnoses foreign citizens came to Georgia for to receive medical services. More than 90% of Georgians went abroad for oncological diagnoses, while foreigners came for radiological diagnostics, cardiology, and cardiac surgery. This gives us an indirect understanding of where more intervention is needed and which fields have more potential.

As for public health, it is very well developed in Georgia, as well as the elimination of Hepatitis C. No other country, regardless of wealth or poverty, can even come close to this achievement," David Sergeenko said.
