Roman Gotsiridze, member of the opposition party National Movement and former NBG Governor declares the growth of the economy in the country is a paradox, as the economy is growing, while people are getting poorer.
Roman Gotsiridze explains that economic growth cannot be real because inflation is high in the country.
"The PM says the economy is growing. But, there is a paradoxical economy in Georgia, as people are getting poorer. We can't talk about the growth, when inflation totals to 11%, while 80% of our citizens spend most of their income on food, services, medicine, transport, etc. The National Statistics Office manipulates and does not actually show the increase in prices. Real inflation is within 20-30% instead of 11%. You can go to the shop and see what you could buy for GEL 100 last year and then compare it to what you can buy now. Where is the economic growth, when real economic growth is adjusted with inflation",- Roman Gotsiridze said.
