Wheat imports were down by 15.6% in 9M2021. The wheat of 282 866.82 tons USD 67.8 million worth was imported during this period.
According to official statistics, the decline was due to reduced imports from the main import market - Russia.
Import by countries:
1.Georgia spent USD 62.4 million to buy 256,084.69 tons of wheat from Russia in 9M2021, which is 22.2% less than the value of wheat purchased last year;
2.Georgia purchased 24 355.5 tons of wheat from the US and spent USD 4.6 million in 9M2021. Wheat imports were not made from the US last year;
3.Small volumes of wheat were imported from Kazakhstan in 9 months - 2,000 tons for USD 569 thousand;
4.Armenia - 326.6 tons, USD 84.4 thousand;
5.Austria - 44.3 tons, USD 49.5 thousand;
6.Slovakia - 40 tons, USD 28.2 thousand;
7.Turkey - 15 tons, USD 9.1 thousand;
8.Germany - 0.6 tons, USD 1 thousand.
Along with the decline in wheat imports, the import of wheat flour in the country has doubled. In January-September this year, USD 4.9 million was spent to buy 16,430.9 tons of flour. Accordingly, imports increased by 115.5%. In the case of flour, the main importer is Russia:
1. Russia – USD 4.6 million, 15 801.6 tons;
2. Turkey – USD 85.5 thousand, 184 tons;
3. Italy – USD 62.1 thousand, 77.1 tons;
4. Ukraine – USD 52.2 thousand, 170 tons;
5. Lithuania – USD 40.6 thousand, 142.1 tons;
6. Austria -USD 28.7 thousand, 44.7 tons;
7. France – USD 12.7 thousand, 10.9 tons.
