Jemal Inaishvili, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Tbilisi Dry Port declares, that the port will begin operations in the second half of April.

Jemal Inaishvili discussed the project details on BMGTV's program "Business Morning" and noted that the investment in the first phase amounted to USD 20 million.

"According to our plans, we expect to start operations in the second half of April. It will be able to function at full capacity when all three phases are completed. The first phase includes the creation of infrastructure, terminal setup, and connection to the station, it means the terminal is connected to the railway station accordingly, and transportation will mainly be carried out by rail from the ports of Poti and Batumi," - noted the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Tbilisi Dry Port.

According to him, the second and third stages of the project mainly involve the construction of warehouses, after which the dry port will operate at full capacity.

"We estimate that the total investment package will be over USD 50 million. The first phase was initially planned for about USD 16 million and we increased it to USD 20 million. The rest will be directed towards warehouse construction and technical equipment. After this, we will be able to work at full capacity, which means receiving 200-250 thousand containers per year not only from Poti and Batumi but also cargo coming from Central Asia, which will be stored and then loaded into containers at the Tbilisi Dry Port and subsequently transported to the ports of Batumi, Poti, and in the future, Anaklia," - stated Jemal Inaishvili.

Reminder, last year the Arab "AD Ports Group" became the 60% shareholder and main partner of the "Tbilisi Dry Port".
