As of February 28, 2023, the value of total pension assets amounts to GEL 3.13 billion. The number of beneficiaries in the pension scheme totlas to 1 million 377 thousand people.
As Giorgi Danelia, director of the pension agency, said at the moment, the net amount of pension savings stands at GEL 476 million, which is the property of more than a million citizens participating in the pension scheme.
As for where the pension savings are invested, the director of the pension agency pointed out, according to the law, the first five years of pension savings can only be invested in a low-risk portfolio.
"Approximately 60% of pension savings are deposited in commercial banks; 16% - in treasury bonds; approximately 9% - in foreign securities (or shares); 8% - in American treasuries; 5% - is on current interest accounts; 0.8% - in sovereign bonds and 0.1% - in corporate bonds," Giorgi Danelia said.
To date, 3,159 persons of different categories have benefited from cumulative pension, and the amount paid to them amounts to GEL 8,268,836.39.
