In 1Q2023, wine worth USD 56.5 million was exported from Georgia, the increase was 23.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. 67.5% of wine exports accounted for the Russian market, Georgian wine worth USD 38 million was sold in Russia in 3 months. In addition to Russia, wine worth more than USD 1 million was sold in 5 countries, including Poland, Ukraine, China, Kazakhstan and America.
"Tbilgvino" is the only company from the wine sector that stopped exporting wine to Russia after Russia-Ukraine War.
"As a rule, we all know that it is not safe and healthy when 50-60% of your income depends on one country. Our company, as well as other companies, produce high-quality wine, and the sustainable future of Georgian winemaking is in those countries where there are no political and economic risks, and if there are, they are the lowest", - Zurab Margvelashvili said.
